The River Stone - Teaser

Cul sped through his work on the farm that day. Even though he was tired, he wanted to get everything done as quick as possible and get back to his room. He had almost choked on a piece of steak as he tried to wolf down dinner. Finally, he was able to leave his family and go to his room.

He rushed upstairs and closed his door. Quickly getting changed for bed and turning off all the lights. He found it easier when everything was pitch black.

Practically jumping onto his bed, he lay down and closed his eyes. As it always was these days, the nagging feeling sat heavily in his mind. He focused on it and felt it grow stronger until something whispered out of it and into his mind.

“Cul? Are you there?” It said. It wasn’t exactly a voice but he always understood what it meant as its intent flowed through the place where he imagined the nagging feeling was.

“Yes!” Cul thought back excitedly.

“Oh good! I was starting to get lonely again.” The not-voice said back shyly.

“You don’t have to be lonely ever again!” Cul thought, imagining himself smiling before a thought occurred to him. “What do you look like?” He asked.

“Would you like to see?”
